	Ø born on the 27th of January, 1930 in Gabrje, Slovenia Ø entitled as the Cardinal Priest of Saints Marcellinus and Peter Ø moved to Austria in the year 1945 and then moved to Canada three years later Ø ordained for the Archdiocese of Toronto on June 4, 1955 Ø earned degrees in theology from the Angelicum and in Scripture from the Pontifical Biblical Institute, Rome and earned a doctorate in theology at the Univeristy of Würzburg. Ø appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Toronto on 26 May 1976 and Coadjutor of the same see on 22 May 1986. He became Archbishop of Toronto on 17 March 1990.
