Hospitalty High Skills Major(SHSM)

Grade 11 Students

Prerequisites: TFJ2O1 Hospitality & Tourism 

 

The Hospitality High Skills Major (SHSM) offers students the opportunity to explore a career(s) in hospitality and Tourism that will develop the skills, attitudes and expertise that will assist them in all four post-secondary pathways: apprenticeship, college, university and workplace. 

Students will need to complete the following requirements in addition to the OSSD, and upon successful completion, they will receive recognition with the Ministry of Education Red Seal on their diploma.

 

Requirements to complete:   

  • 8 to 10 bundled credits at Senior Level (see Hospitality & Tourism "Catering with Class" SHSM brochure and your Guidance Counsellor)
  • Sector-recognized Certifications and safety Awareness Training
  • Experiential Learning and Co-operative Education
  • 'Reach Ahead' Experiences

Database Design with SQL - Grade 11, Open                                             IDC 3O1

In database Design, students learn to analyze complex business scenarios and create a data model, a conceptual representation of an organization’s information.

Prerequisites:  none

 

Database Programming with SQL – Grade 12, Open                                    IDC 4O1

In Database Programming with SQL, students implement their database design by creating a physical database using SQL, the industry standard database programming language. Students have the opportunity to sit for the first of two exams required to earn the Oracle Certified Associate: 1Z0-007: Introduction to Oracle 9i: SQL
