Ashon Reid: The Person and the Player In the outset of 2001, the St. Augustine school community was gripped by the shocking news of Ashon's death. However, amidst the sorrow, which came along with the loss, came a sense of closeness within our school community. For no matter who you were, if you knew him personally, observed him from afar, or crossed paths with him, it was evident that the loss of Ashon was devastating. The school reacted solemnly, taking the time to reflect on the boundless positive qualities that this young man exemplified. He was a son, a brother, a friend and teammate. Ashon’s radiant smile helped many get through their otherwise unhappy days. He was a star athlete who participated actively in three sports: basketball, soccer and football. His love for these sports shone, through his determination and attitude. It seemed that in the toughest of situations Ashon fought on until the final buzzer. If there was a loss at hand, he was there to tell a joke just to smooth things over for his teammates. He will be forever remembered as a St. Augustine Falcon.   Rest In Peace Ashon…1983~2001
