Book Club-
The St Augustine Book Club meets once a month (For 2011-12 it is every second Thursday).
We commence the year with a high profile topical novel and continue every four weeks reading the
entire White Pine Book Award nominee list. Sometimes that means two novels a month so that we
can finish all ten, vote on our favourites then attend the White Pine Book Award Day At Queen's Quay
in Toronto. As participants in the Reading Series, each of us has a voice in selecting the winner of
this prestigious award.
Our meetings are populated by male and female students from all grades, and even if we haven't finished that month's selection, we show up, discuss what we've read, analyze the piece of fiction--sometimes positively, sometimes scathingly--eat, drink, and get passionate about books! We've had upwards of 40 students at any one meeting and continue to add outstanding works of art to our Literary Wall of Fame.
