Kelly Hughes

Kelly Huges attended St. Augustine Secondary School. He is currently enrolled in Commerce at Mount Allison. He was Mount Allison’s Athlete of the month in October ,2007.  Hughes was an all-conference player in the Ontario Junior Football League before coming to the Atlantic University Sport conference as one of the top Mounties’ recruits. From his first game of the season in 2006, he has been one of the corner stones in the Mounties’ successful turn-around. He had an especially impressive month of October, and will go down in the history books for setting several offensive records, both at the University and in the conference. Hughes broke the University record for the most touchdown passes in one game, that being five; he broke AUS and University records when he threw 58 times (AUS record) for 453 yards (Mount Allison record); and finally, down 35-0 in the second quarter, Hughes nearly knocked off the CIS number-four ranked SMU Huskies when he led a 37-point second-half attack that included five TDs (four in the air and one rushing), and 11/27 passes for 235 yards in the air.


Ohenewa Akuffo

Ohenewa Akuffo has qualified for ‘Women’s Freestyle Wrestling’ for the Beijing Olympics, 2008.

Ohenewa Akuffo graduated from St. Augustine Secondary School in the year 1997. While attending St. Augustine, she won the Senior National Championship making her the youngest woman in Canada at that time to be on a senior team. At the 1997 Worlds, she represented Canada at 75 kgs. After graduating, she attended McMaster University for two years where she was on the varsity team. In her years at McMaster, she won the OUS , CIS and the Junior National Championships. Currently, she attends York University where she is pursuing a business degree. She is presently training at The University of Guelph (a national training centre).
