Sweatshop:
A sweatshop involves unacceptable working conditions. Sweatshops are commonly characterized by low pay, poor working conditions, safety violations, and inhumane treatment of employees.
Did you know?
Ø Did you know McCarthy (your uniforms) has now agreed to guarantee our uniforms are sweatshop free!
Ø You know why? Students like you at St.Augustine have helped end sweatshop conditions at McCarthy. We should be proud!
New Policy:
Ø The Dufferin-Peel Catholic District Board has agreed to ensure that a supplier signs the Supplier Fair Labor Practices Agreement before any school places any orders
Ø Suppliers must be required to provide institutions with names, addresses, telephone and fax numbers, of all workplaces where the clothing is being made
What Can You Do?
Ask Questions!
Ø Be concerned and involved with the clothes you buy, don’t be afraid to ask questions
Ø Ever wondered where St.Augustine supplies are made from? Get involved and find out where your school’s supplies are made
