Preparing Your Child For Grade 7

Dear Parents/Guardians:

Your child can prepare for Grade 7 by bringing personal school supplies to school. Bringing personal school supplies will foster responsibility and organizational skills in your child. The school supplies listed below are recommended for Grade 7.   Rotary classes will start on the second day of school. Your child will need the following items.

Certain popular items are not allowed due to limited storage space in classroom desks, and for class management reasons.

Supplies

  • Binder: one (1) 1-inch, heavy duty or industrial strength binder
  • Dividers: package of ten (10)
  • Lined paper: four (4) packages of 500 sheets.
  • Pencils: one (1) package of 10 mechanical pencils, 0.5 or 0.7 lead (recommended: PaperMate, Bic) lead refills four (4) packages of 12 standard, wooden HB pencils
  • Pens: four (4) packages of 12 ball point; blue and red inks (recommended: PaperMate, Bic)
  • Hi-liters: four (4) colours
  • Pencil cases: two (2) cloth, zippered cases (not plastic boxes)
  • Pencil crayons
  • Markers
  • Duotangs: five (5), various colours (for assignments or reports)

    The following items are NOT allowed:

  • arge, cloth-upholstered binders with zippers and pockets
  • plastic box pencil cases
  • liquid paper; neither brush-on, nor pens

         Language Arts

  • English Dictionary
  • English Thesaurus
  • Recommended: Webster's Concise English Dictionary
  •                         Webster's Concise English Thesaurus

    Please avoid purchasing the thick combined dictionary and thesaurus.

         French

  • French Dictionary (mandatory)

        Math / Science

  • Scientific calculator
  • (Write student's full name on back of calculator and on cover, in permanent black marker)
  • Geometry set (recommended: HelixÐOxford, Buffalo)
  • Protractor must have solid centre, as shown.

          Physical Education

  • Non-marking running shoes.
  • Appropriate clothing for physical activity Ð athletic shorts and t-shirts. No cargo shorts, tank tops, capris,
  • Students must keep their gym shoes at school, to ensure they are able to participate in all physical education classes.

         Other

    One (1) box of facial tissue
