The Peace Group

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

-John 14:27

"I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."

-John 16:33

“There is a silent self within us whose presence is disturbing precisely because it is so silent: it can’t be spoken.  It has to remain silent.  To articulate it, to verbalize it, is to tamper with it, and in some ways to destroy it.”

-Thomas Merton, A Book of Hours

What is the Peace Group?

The Peace Group is a group of students and teachers who want to explore their own selves in an attempt to discover the deep peace that lies within their own being.

What is the aim of the Peace Group?

There is no aim.  When peace happens then that peace will flow throughout our school and the larger community by efforts initiated by the Holy Spirit.  Where there is love, there is God.  And where there is God, miracles can happen.

What will we do at Peace Group meetings?

The Peace Group will practice meditation, listen to talks, and create community that is founded on a communal exploration of one’s own self.  This exploration will seek God and the gifts that God has placed within us in order to make this world on earth “as it is in heaven”.

How long and when will Peace Group meetings be?

Meetings will between 30-45minutes.  Meetings will take place every other Monday after school in the chapel.

Why change the name from Peace Team to Peace Group?

To suggest that we are a group is to better describe us as a community of faith-filled believers.  A team suggests competition, and competition has nothing to do with what we are practicing here and what we hope to achieve.
