HARMONY GRADUATION CEREMONY 2011
On January 13th 2011, at St. Edmund Campion we had our Harmony Movement Graduation Ceremony. The Harmony Movement is an organization that teaches students about diversity awareness in their school. During the past 8 weeks, the students discussed ideas relating to stereotypes, disabilities, gender, race and religion. At the completion of this program, the students graduate and receive a Diversity Leadership Certificate.
This time we had over 25 students participating in the program. To finish off the evening, students and parents brought in ethnic food to share in the celebration.
CONGRATS HARMONY MEMBERS! We at St. Edmund Campion are very proud of you!
Ms. Swaminathan

COREY SHERWOOD WINS JUNE CALLWOOD 2009 HARMONY SCHOLARSHIP

As a graduate of Harmony Movement’s Diversity Leadership Certificate Program held at Campion last year, Corey has embraced what it means to be a leader for social change. Since 2004, Corey has been involved in initiatives to promote peace and understanding, from being a team leader for his school’s International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination to participating in the University of Toronto’s Back History Month conference. Corey was the organizer of “SPEAK UP”, a charity basketball tournament to raise money for Knights Table, a local soup kitchen in Brampton. He also independently created a presentation for his school of 2,000 students about Canada’s only all-black military battalion in World War I. Corey was one of only ten students across Canada to win this prestigious award. Corey is currently attending Wilfrid Laurier University. |
