This course requires students to complete a range of communications technology projects. These may include creating printed stationery, short videos, computer-generated animations, and graphical information displays. Students will learn to transfer information using electronic, live, and graphic communication methods. The knowledge and skills they will develop will provide a basis for careers in areas such as publishing, advertising, print production, animation, photography and journalism.

THEORY AND FOUNDATION
By the end of the course students will:
- Identify and describe the techniques used to produce print media;
- Identify and describe the basic techniques required to produce animations and audio-video productions;
- Identify and describe the processes of capturing still images.
SKILLS AND PROCESSES
By the end of the course students will:
- Prepare camera-ready artwork for print and post-production;
- Produce audio-video and/or animated productions;
- Compose, capture, and process still images;
- Use computer graphics software competently.
IMPACT AND CONSEQUENCES
- Explain the benefits, risks, and ethics associated with communications technology;
- Observe safety rules and regulations;
- Identify career opportunities in the communications field.

| ASSESSMENT AND EVALUATION |
The Ontario Curriculum, Program Planning and Assessment 2000 specifies that the mark for the course is to be based upon ongoing or term work (70%) and a final assessment (30%) that will include a final culminating activity.

The ongoing or term work will include small written assignments, reports, career research and presentation, computer programs, quizzes and unit tests. The final assessment will include a programming project, and a final exam. The last unit of the course will be part of the final assessment.
Within these two areas, marks will be obtained using the four categories specified in the Ontario Curriculum Grades 9 and 10: Technological Education.
