DIVERSITY

The St. Edmund Campion Diversity Team was involved with the Harmony Movement in 2008. The Harmony Movement is a non-profit organization that was started in 1994 to stop all forms of discrimination which were preventing people from being treated fairly. The Harmony Movement educated students at St. Edmund Campion by providing weekly workshops and a Board-wide conference. The leadership that was developed in each of the Campion students allowed for him/her to go to our Elementary Feeder Schools and educate grade seven classes about their own potential to speak out against discrimination and inequity.

Students who successfully graduated from the program received a diversity leadership certificate. The Diversity Leadership Certificate Program (DLCP) allows students to learn through games, such as, Ambassador Bingo and Iceberg, activities and examining different movies and TV shows that depict forms of racism and stereotyping. The Harmony Movement workshops imparted Campion students’ with a message from Gandhi, "Be the change that you wish to see in the world." With this message our students are able to stand up for themselves and others. Seen here are pictures of the Campion Students at the Harmony Movement Graduation Ceremony, held at St. Edmund Campion S.S.
