Communications Technology, GR. 10 GRAPHIC DESIGN (OPEN) TGJ203
This course introduces students to communications technology from a media perspective. Students will work in the areas of TV/video and movie production, radio and audio production, print and graphic communications, photography, and interactive new media and animation. Student projects may include computer-based activities such as creating videos, editing photos, working with audio, cartooning, developing animations, and designing web pages. Students will also develop an awareness of environmental and societal issues related to communications technology, and will explore secondary and post secondary education and training pathways and career opportunities in the various communications technology fields.
Students will focus on graphic design and print media fields, developing skills in: stationary design, image manipulation and photo morphing, logo design, poster design, digital imaging, design layout, letterforms and typography, web / home page design, and creating video slideshows using Adobe Photoshop, i-Photo and Adobe Dreamweaver software.

This course introduces students to communications technology from a media perspective. Students will focus on video production fields developing skills in: digital software basics, graphics, photography (analogue and digital), audio/video and animation, careers and digital portfolio creation.

Core French, Grade 9, Advanced Placement FSF1DP
This course is designed for students who are displaying a highly developed ability for French as a second language and who enjoy additional challenges in language. The course curriculum will follow the regular Ministry of Education program of study for FSF 1D, with emphasis on the use of language for active communication in various contexts and in four basic skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking).
Requirement: Strong language skills and demonstrated success at the elementary level as well as recommendation of the Grade 8 teacher and/or from the French & International Languages Department.
Core French, Grade 10, Advanced Placement FSF2DP
This course emphasizes the use of language for active communicative and helps students develop their ability to understand spoken French in various contexts and the ability to express themselves coherently and resourcefully in both written and spoken French. The course curriculum will follow the regular Ministry of Education program of study for FSF 1D, with develops of French vocabulary sufficiently ample for reading newspaper and magazine articles.
Prerequisite: Grade 9 French, Academic or Advanced Placement.
Core French, Grade 11, Advanced Placement FSF3UP
This course focuses on developing the four French-language skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. Students will analyse a range of works and produce written assignments in a variety of genres; express ideas and opinion relating to a variety of topics based on class discussion, individual research, and personal interests. The use of correct grammar and appropriate language convention in both spoken and written French will be emphasized throughout the course. This course will familiarize the students with the AP French Language Examination and will prepare them to write the exam by the end of grade 12.
Prerequisite: Grade 10 French, Academic or Advanced Placement.
Core French, Grade 12, Advanced Placement FSF4UP
This course seeks to develop language skills (reading, writing, listening, and speaking) that can be used in various activities and disciplines rather than to cover any specific body of subject matter. Extensive training in the organisation and writing of compositions will also be emphasized. Students develop their ability to ability to express themselves coherently, resourcefully, and with reasonable fluency and accuracy in both written and spoken French.
Students will be expected to write the AP International Exam and are financially responsible for the cost of writing the exam.
Prerequisite: Grade 11 French, University Preparation or Advanced Placement. |
