Business News 09

Camp Enterprise, organized by the Rotary Club of Mississauga, is a 3.5 day business camp that takes place in May at UofT, Mississauga. It celebrated its 15th year of operation in May 2009. During the 3.5 days, students follow a full schedule filled with business-based guest speakers who run or own successful companies. Previous speakers included the owners of Lava Life and Shred-It. Students also have the chance to meet 85 students from 25 high schools, participating in business games and simulatiions, eventually putting together a business plan that is evaluated by bankers.

Students are selected by Ms. Malatesta, a business teacher who has worked with The Rotary Club for over 5 years. To attend the camp, students have to submit a resume and pass an interview with the Rotary officials. Although many students are interviewed, only a handful from each school are allowed to attend. Camp Enterprise has become a popular business activity that is recgnized in the business community, often helping students land jobs for the summer.

Students selected this year for Camp Enterprise:
1) Ashely F. - Grade 11 Marketing Student
2) Ashley R. - Grade 11 Marketing Student
3) Raza K. - Grade 12 Business Leadership Student
4) Shanay W.J - participant in the New Youth Rotary Club (AKA: Interact Club)
