Scholarships are available to a variety of students and not restricted to high academic marks.   There are thousands of scholarships available and each year many of these awards receive few, if any applications.  Get active and research the opportunity of money available to you.  Come out to the scholarship club to learn how.

A definition of Scholarships, Bursaries and Awards....

 

Scholarship: A non-repayable sum of money awarded to a student to help finance further education.  Most scholarships are based on merit in area ranging from academic achievement to community involvement.  Usually, scholarships are not based on financial need.  Scholarships criteria vary greatly.  Categories include, merit, fine and performing arts, geographic location, heritage and background, language, leadership and volunteering, religion, special needs, sports and athletics, student and parent memberships, subject specific, apprenticeship programs etc...

You can apply and be considered for many scholarships.  Make sure you look into entrance, private, cooperate and specific groups scholarships.

Bursary:  A non-repayable grant of money, bursaries are awarded primarily based on financial need, but academic achievement is also considered.  Usually, the applicant must provide detailed documentation describing their financial situation when applying for bursary.  Be sure to check into your student services department at your university or college.

Award:  An award is given in recognition of outstanding achievement.  Award may be in the form of books, plaques, subscriptions or money.  A monetary award is usually called a scholarship or bursary.  A monetary award is usually called a scholarship or bursary.  For example: The Volunteer Service Award sponsored by the Government of Ontario.  Refer the OLMC agenda book for your school awards.
