Deaf and Hard-Of-Hearing

 

Definition

 

Varying degrees of hearing that require amplification and perhaps specialist teaching in order to comprehend and acquire spoken language.  Amplification may include hearing aids, cochlear implants and FM Systems.  A low percentage of deaf children may need sign language for communication.

 

This identification requires assessment by an appropriate qualified medical practitioner or audiologist.

Mental Health Services for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Children and Youth, PAH!

 

PAH! provides mental health services to deaf and hard of hearing children and youth, and their families. They use a wrap around approach focusing on strengthening healthy family functioning, through individualized plans, which look for formal and informal supports.
