News and Updates from CCCSC

Annual In-Service and Vendor Market Place Saturday April 4, 2009

It was an exciting day when approximately 200 parents and administrators and trustees gathered to participate in this eagerly anticipated annual event.  Both Luz del Rosario and Tony da Silva, trustees for CCCSC, participated throughout the day, joining parents and educators in the variety of activities. Trustee Anna Abruscatto brought greetings from the board and Trustee Sharon Hobin supported the event throughout the day.   Everyone was delighted with the worship songs presented by "Blue Vale", a musical worship band that provided our opening liturgy.

CCCSC was very pleased to have Director of Education John Kostoff as the keynote speaker. John brought a very personal, down to earth view of the history and future of Catholic education. As some parents said, it was "inspired", "educational/great informative", and "eye opening".  Afterwards parents were invited to attend sessions of their choice covering topics such as mathematics, assessment in education, special education updates, good eating/healthy choices, and cybersafety updates.  Many vendors participated providing a fun atmosphere with lots of samples to take away and time to chat regarding the fund-raising possibilities.  Our plenary session speaker was none other than Ron Morrish who dug right into the issue of "Discipline". He didn't shy away from the difficulties of parenting but dealt with it all with a tremendous sense of humour, helping parents to see themselves in the situations and learn how to break the old habits.  All in all it was a fantastic day.
