HEALTH AND SAFETY DEPARTMENT
The department serves as a resource to all staff and provides consultation and recommendations regarding risk management in the areas of environment; occupational health and safety, insurance and public health. It is responsible for developing, coordinating, implementing and monitoring health and safety programs to ensure the board's compliance with all applicable environmental, health and safety related legislation. Safety is a responsibility shared by all. Working together through the recognition and subsequent control of hazards we can have a safe workplace. The department is located at the Catholic Education Centre and is within the portfolio of the Superintendent of Employee Relations.
Employee and/or work related issues are handled by the Health and Safety Staff with student injuries and insurance matters handled by risk management staff.

Resource for Joint Health and Safety Committees (JHSC's)
The Board maintains three JHSC's which represent the following groups:
- Elementary Teachers
- Mid-Management, APSSP, CUPE and Education Resource Workers
- Secondary Teachers

- Property Insurance including all Board buildings and contents

- Automotive Insurance for Board Vehicles

- Student and non-employee accident reports, claims and litigation
