Information and Communications Technology


The Information and Communication Technology Department

 

The ICT Department is responsible for developing and implementing technology initiatives that improve the quality of service delivery to instructional and corporate users throughout the School Board.  The Department is divided into five functional areas:

 

·           Network Infrastructure and Telecommunications;

 

·           Application Development and Support;

 

·           ICT Business Operations, Technical Support, and Deployment;

 

·           ICT Service Desk;

 

·           Data Centre and Fileserver Operations.

 

 

The ICT Department provides the following services to the School Board:

 

·           Deployment, re-deployment, maintenance, support, and disposal of all computer hardware, software, and audio visual equipment;

 

·           Developing , enhancing, and supporting  various administrative applications;

 

·           Secure LAN, WAN, and VPN networked services;

 

·           Telephony and Public Address systems;

 

·           Access to the Internet (filtered for Students);

 

·           Technical support via a central ICT Service Desk;

 

·           Technology Asset Inventory and Lifecycle Management;

 

·           Library and Media Services;

 

·           Server and Storage management for all of the above.
