Tony da Silva is serving his first term as trustee, complementing his 32 years in education as a teacher, special education consultant, and administrator. He has also served as President of the Ontario Association of Adult & Continuing Education School Board Administrators (CESBA) representing both public and Catholic school boards across the province. Tony holds an Honours BA in English and History from York University, a BEd from the University of Toronto, and has completed graduate work in education at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, University of Toronto. He has received awards for his contributions to special education and literacy, and in 2005, was presented with a special award by the Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Education of Korea for his promotion of cooperation in education between Korea and Canada.
In addition to his duties as a trustee, Tony is involved in his community as an active parishioner at St. Jerome’s, a coach with Brampton Minor Sports Associations, and a member of the Board of Directors of a number of not-for-profit agencies in the GTA. On a provincial and national level, he has provided expert advice to various Ministers and senior bureaucrats on education, language assessment, and labour market integration of international professionals.
Tony sees his role as trustee as a vocational call to service to the Catholic community of Dufferin-Peel.
