Tony da Silva is serving his first term as trustee, complementing his 32 years in education as a teacher, special education consultant, and School Board administrator. He has served as President of the Ontario Association of Adult & Continuing Education School Board Administrators (CESBA) representing both public and Catholic school boards across the province. Tony holds an Honours degree in English and History from York University, a Bachelor of Education from the University of Toronto, and has completed graduate work in education at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, University of Toronto at a Masters and PHD level. He has received awards for his contributions to special education and literacy, and in 2005, was presented with a special award by the Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Education of Korea for his
promotion of cooperation in education between Korea and Canada.

In addition to his duties as a trustee, Tony is involved in his community as an active parishioner at St. Jerome’s and serves as a member of a number of agencies and regional committees, including:

§         Brampton Safe City

§         Peel Youth Violence Prevention Network

§         Peel Newcomer Strategy Group

§         Newcomer Centre of Peel

§         Peel Adult Learning Centre

As a Director with the Ontario Catholic Trustees Association, Tony is a leader and a strong advocate for Catholic Education. He sees his role as trustee as a vocational call to service to the Catholic community of Dufferin-Peel.
