Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Sharon was schooled in Catholic elementary and secondary schools. After graduating from St. Mary's University with degrees in English, Political Science (BA) and a Bachelor of Education, she taught in Halifax schools until she became Executive Director of Junior Achievement of Mainland Nova Scotia.
In 1983, Sharon moved to Ontario to become National Program Director of Junior Achievement of Canada. After leaving this full-time position, Sharon ran a special event planning business and served as a curriculum consultant and writer for Junior Achievement. Sharon is a dedicated supporter of Catholic education and has sat on several school councils and committees over the last 14 years. She has also served as chair of the Central Committee for Catholic School Councils.
Her role in education in Dufferin-Peel has been that of an advocate and cheerleader for Catholic schools, parents, staff and most of all, students. She has chaired the Faith and Program Committee and the System Review Committee. She is also a member of the Challenged Materials Committee and the SALEP committee. Sharon and her family, husband George, and three children, are members of St. Ignatius of Loyola Parish in Mississauga.
