Esther O’Toole is serving her sixth term (19 years total and 10th year serving Ward 9/10) as trustee for the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board.
First elected in 1991, Esther served two terms in Mississauga’s Ward 2. After the provincial government’s reduction of trustees, resulting in amalgamation of wards, she was elected again in Ward 4. In the 2000 election, Esther was asked to run in Ward 9/10, where she is a resident, and was acclaimed. In the 2003 election, Esther O'Toole won the Ward 9/10 seat by a wide margin. Esther has a very active hands-on approach with her community and was privileged to have the distinction of being the only elected candidate to be acclaimed in the City of Mississauga during the 2006 municipal election.
In 2010, Esther O'Toole was the only trustee from her board to receive a certificate of continuing education for attending a series of six Archdiocese of Toronto-approved workshops on the role of a Catholic school trustee. The workshops were conducted at St. Augustine’s Seminary in Scarborough.
As a Catholic school trustee, Esther has served in various capacities on all standing committees. In 2003 and 2007, she was elected Vice-Chair of the board. She is the current Chair of the Contract Negotiations Committee and the past chair of the Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC). As well, she has served as Vice Chair on many other committees. In 2008 and 2010, Esther was elected by her trustee colleagues to serve on the board of Directors of the Ontario Catholic School Trustee Association.
In 2005, Esther was asked to be the Vice-President on the Board of Directors for the Eden Food Bank, which serves needy families in two postal codes of Ward 9/10. She now serves as the school liaison officer for the board. In November 2005, she helped spearhead a community fundraising campaign for the Food Bank with the participation of schools from both school boards. “This awareness from our children has sparked an interest in the corporate community of Ward 9/10 to help the funding needs of the Eden Food Bank and the St. Vincent de Paul Society.”
Esther O'Toole has promoted the Mississauga North Youth Vincentian group at St. John of the Cross Parish formed through the St. Vincent de Paul Society under the direction of Bill and Shirley Graham.
This Certified Sales Professional (CSP) represents Environmental Acoustics, a Canadian company and global distributor of sound masking systems. In this role, she is an active member of the Canada Green Building Council. "The Canada Green Building Council accelerates the design and construction of green buildings in Canada. We are a broad-based inclusive coalition of representatives from different segments of the design and building industry.” Esther also served as past President of the International Facility Management Association for South Central Ontario.

This new parish will celebrate Mass at St. Joan of Arc Secondary School until the congregation develops enough for a church to be built. It is being established to help alleviate overcrowding at two other churches, St. John of the Cross and Merciful Redeemer, which are “bursting at the seams.” Saturday Mass will be held every week at 5 p.m. and Sunday Mass at 9 a.m., 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Mass in the school chapel will also be offered every Tuesday and Thursday morning at 7:45 a.m. and every Wednesday and Friday evening at 7 p.m.
