Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board announces

top scholars for 2009-10

2,283 Grade 12 Dufferin-Peel students score 80 per cent or higher

 

The Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board is pleased to announce its top scholars for 2009-10. Notre Dame Catholic Secondary School in Brampton produced Dufferin-Peel’s top scholar. Don Marcial Ragot scored an impressive 98.83 per cent average on his top six Grade 12 courses. The leading scholar from a Mississauga school is from St. Francis Xavier Secondary School. Chloe Chan scored an average of 98.67 per cent. Jennifer McCall from Robert F. Hall Catholic Secondary School was the top Caledon/Dufferin County scholar with a 95.67 per cent average.

 

Don, Chloe and Jennifer are among the 2,283 Dufferin-Peel scholars who earned an average of 80 per cent or higher on their top six Grade 12 courses.

Don Marcial Ragot has accepted an entrance scholarship to the University of Toronto where he is enrolled in the Engineering Science program.

Chloe Chan will be attending either McGill University or McMaster University in the fall, to study Health Sciences. She received entrance scholarships to both universities.

 

Jennifer McCall has received a four-year scholarship from McGill University where she will be in the Biological Biomedical Analogical Sciences Honors program.

“These students are to be recognized for their exceptional academic achievements,” said John Kostoff, director of education. “Marks like these represent many hours of perseverance and dedication. These qualities should serve them well as they continue their academic endeavours through the post-secondary level and beyond.”

 

A list of the top scholars from each Dufferin-Peel Catholic secondary school is attached.

The Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board is one of the largest and most diverse school boards in Ontario. It serves approximately 87,000 students in 145 schools located throughout Mississauga, Brampton, Caledon and Orangeville. With over 10,000 employees, the board is also one of the largest employers in the region.
