Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board and OPSEU Local 283 reach tentative agreement
MISSISSAUGA – The Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board and OPSEU Local 283 (Ontario Public Service Employees Union) have reached a tentative collective agreement pending ratification.
The agreement is in effect from October 9, 2007 until August 31, 2012 and is in accordance with the Provincial Discussion Table framework as agreed to by the Ministry of Education and Catholic school boards across the province. OPSEU 283 represents Adult ESL Instructors at Dufferin-Peel. This is the first contract for this employee group at Dufferin-Peel.
The board continues to negotiate with its other employee groups.
The Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board is one of the largest school boards in Ontario, with approximately 87,000 students in 145 schools located throughout Mississauga, Brampton, Caledon and Orangeville. With approximately 10,000 employees, the board is also one of the largest employers in the region.
