Youth activist Johnnie Williams to provide keynote address at Grade 7 student diversity conference
On January 29, Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board’s Brampton Central Family of Schools will host its first annual student diversity conference. This one-day event will provide leadership opportunities for a selected group of Grade 7 students who will take part in an interactive forum to address diversity and equity issues.
Keynote speaker, Johnnie Williams, a youth activist and motivational speaker, will speak to students about setting goals, embracing education, investing within themselves and reaching their personal best by avoiding negative influences, underage drinking and bullying.
Following the keynote address, students will participate in a series of workshops led by The Harmony Movement. These students will then be responsible for returning to their schools and sharing what they learned with their peers, with the goal of helping to promote respect for diversity and equity in their school community.
