Catholic schools say 'thanks' to school bus drivers on Bus Driver Appreciation Day
Students, staff, parents recognize valued contribution
The Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board will pay tribute to its school bus drivers by holding a Bus Driver Appreciation Day on October 21. The day will be celebrated with special activities and events that provide teachers, students and parents/guardians with an opportunity to thank the bus drivers who safely transport over 30,000 Dufferin-Peel students to and from school each day.
"We appreciate the hard work and dedication our bus drivers put into their jobs everyday transporting our students safely to and from school,” said Mario Pascucci, Chair of the Board of Trustees. "It is important that our school communities take this opportunity to recognize and celebrate them on October 21."
On September 29, the board passed a resolution that recognized the outstanding job that bus drivers do and encouraged schools to celebrate their drivers in a special way on October 21. As in the past, many Dufferin-Peel schools will celebrate Bus Driver Appreciation Day with special treats for drivers including thank you cards, coffee, breakfast and gifts.
The Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board is one of largest and most diverse school districts in Ontario, with approximately 87,000 students in 145 Catholic schools throughout Mississauga, Brampton, Caledon and Orangeville. With over 10,000 employees, the board is also one of the largest employers in the region. This year marks Dufferin-Peel’s 40th anniversary as a consolidated school board.
