In the Canada’s Outstanding Principals program, principals are nominated by their peers, school staff and community members in an extensive nomination and selection process. Nominations are reviewed and final winners chosen by the National Selection Committee.

As principal of Adult and Continuing Education since 2008, Ms. McGee and her team, ensures quality programs and supports for students in elementary, secondary and adult education.  Since joining Dufferin-Peel in 1980, she has served as an elementary and secondary teacher, secondary department head, secondary vice-principal and principal at the secondary and system levels.

The principals being honoured as Canada’s Outstanding Principals for 2012 will receive their awards at a gala dinner event and awards ceremony on February 28, at the Sheraton Centre in Toronto.

“We are very proud to celebrate this honour with Ann McGee,” said John Kostoff, Director of Education. “She is a shining example of the exceptional leaders in our Catholic education system who work diligently every day to lay the foundation for success for our students.”

In addition to her daily work in Adult and Continuing Education, Ms. McGee also leads the board’s International Education portfolio. Over the past four years, she has successfully connected with Boards of Education from South Korea and has coordinated a number of teacher training exchange programs within Dufferin-Peel.

Ms. McGee serves on numerous staff committees within the board. She collaborates and works diligently with colleagues to design and implement consistent standards and professional processes throughout her various portfolios, always holding student success and ethical leadership as her supporting pillars.

“I am honoured and humbled to be selected by The Learning Partnership to participate in the Canada’s Outstanding Principals’ program,” said Ann McGee. “This is by far a milestone in my career! As a firm believer in lifelong learning, I am looking forward to joining colleagues from across Canada in the leadership enhancement sessions at the Joseph L.
