Dufferin-Peel Catholic Schools celebrate Catholic Education Week
This year’s theme is “We are Called”

Schools and parishes across the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board will host many special events and activities during the week of April 27 – May 2, as students and staff celebrate Catholic Education Week.

The Ontario Catholic School Trustees' Association (OCSTA) annually coordinates this event to raise awareness about the unique dimension of Catholic education in Ontario. This year’s theme is We are Called.

“In Catholic education, we are called on many levels, depending on our responsibility, but the foundation call for all of us, whether you’re a student, parent, teacher, support staff or trustee, is the call of our Baptism,” said Bruno Iannicca, chair of the board. “It is a very challenging call in light of today’s very secular world, but it is not impossible given the abiding presence of the Holy Spirit within us.”

“This is a very special week for our staff and students. It is an opportunity to reflect on the importance of faith in our lives, and the role it plays in education,” said John Kostoff, director of education. “We encourage parents and guardians to take extra notice of their child’s accomplishments and to fully participate in the events and activities planned for their school communities throughout the week.”

Events will include: concerts, plays, art displays, celebratory Masses, academic competitions, athletic events, fundraisers, open houses, and much more.

The Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board is one of largest and most diverse school districts in Ontario, with approximately 88,000 students in 144 Catholic schools throughout Mississauga, Brampton, Caledon and Orangeville. With over 10,000 employees, the board is also one of the largest employers in the region.
