Dufferin-Peel Catholic board offers opportunity to study “Classics in Krakow”
High school students are invited to participate in a learning experience that combines the study of the literary classics of Polish authors while living in Krakow and touring Poland. Participating students will earn a compulsory English credit towards their high school diploma.
Classics in Krakow, is a program organized by the Global Learning Institute (the facet of Adult and Continuing Education at the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board responsible for international studies) in partnership with Chopin Tours. While in Krakow, students will live and learn at the Pastoral Lodge of the Sanctuary of Divine Mercy located just 6 kms from the city centre. In addition, students will tour various cities and sites that relate directly to the works studied including Torun, Malbork, Gdansk, Auschwitz, Zakopane and Warsaw, thereby deepening their understanding and appreciation of the literature studied.
The program runs from July 7 - July 31, 2008. Students have two courses from which to choose:
ENG3U—English (Grade 11) or ENG4U—English (Grade 12).
The cost for the program is $4,900 and includes:
· Return airfare;
· Tour transportation;
· Accommodation and classroom facilities;
· All meals;
· All textbooks
· Instruction by a Dufferin-Peel Ontario qualified teacher;
· Excursions;
· All study tours as part of the instructional program for the course.
· All applicable taxes
