Future business leaders compete in Regional DECA Competition
650 secondary students to compete in written tests and business role plays

On November 29, St. Marguerite d’Youville Secondary School in Brampton will host the Peel Regional DECA Competition. Over 650 secondary students from Brampton and Mississauga will compete in a series of written tests and business role plays in front of a panel judges. Regional finalists will move onto the provincial competition held in Toronto this February.

DECA Ontario is a chapter of a world-wide student organization which works to enhance the co-curricular education of students with interests in business, marketing and entrepreneurship through conferences and competitions.

The theme of the competition is ‘Take A Risk’. DECA decided on this theme as it recognizes that being a risk taker is one of the most important entrepreneurial qualities. DECA students are not only taught the academic content of good business, but also real world skills of problem solving and communication, hence the association motto, “Engage. Educate. Empower.”
