Human Rights and Environmental Abuses the subjects of
10th Annual Student Day: Canadian Mining Called to Account!
Event presented by the Canadian Catholic Organization for Development and Peace

On November 22, over 100 secondary students from the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board will gather at Father Michael Goetz Secondary School in Mississauga for the Canadian Catholic Organization for Development and Peace 10th Annual Student Day. This event provides students with an opportunity to learn about the Development and Peace organization and its current education campaign, “Canadian Mining Called to Account”.
The session will begin with a keynote address by Luke Stocking, an animator for Development and Peace, who will speak about his experience as a faith-based activist. Students will then participate in workshops and group discussions about Canadian mining companies committing human rights and environmental abuses overseas.
This event is one of three Student Days across Ontario; others will be held in Toronto (Toronto and York Boards) and Oshawa (Durham and Peterborough Boards).
