Dufferin-Peel Catholic community recognizes Child Care Workers and Early Childhood Educators
The Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board will mark the 11th Annual Child Care Worker and Early Childhood Educator Appreciation Day on October 26, with a message to students, staff and the community, recognizing those who work tirelessly alongside children and families to support the earliest stages of childhood development in Peel Region and Dufferin County.
On September 27, the board passed a resolution recognizing the fundamental role that Child Care Workers and Early Childhood Educators play in its Full-Day Kindergarten classes, Parenting and Family Literacy Centres, child care centres, and in the many early years programs that serve in and around its schools.
“Years of research confirm the benefits of high quality child care for children’s intellectual, emotional, social and physical development and later life outcomes,” says Ralph Borrelli, Associate Director of Instructional Services. “Early childhood education prepares children to succeed when they are ready to enter school. The tremendous dedication and expertise that educators bring to our youngest community members and their families is very much valued and appreciated.”
The Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board is one of the largest and most diverse school districts in Ontario, with approximately 85,000 students in 146 Catholic schools throughout Mississauga, Brampton, Caledon and Orangeville. With over 10,000 employees, the board is also one of the largest employers in the region.
