Dufferin-Peel Catholic schools celebrate World Teachers’ Day
The Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board will mark United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization’s (UNESCO) World Teachers’ Day with a message to the system recognizing and thanking its more than 6,400 teachers who carry on the tradition of excellence in Catholic education by supporting students and their families in Dufferin-Peel. World Teachers’ Day is celebrated annually on October 5.
“Our board is proud to recognize the professionalism and dedication that our teachers show in their classrooms,” says Anna Abbruscato, chair of the board of trustees. “We encourage all our students and school community to thank our teachers for the extraordinary contributions they make to the development and success of our students.”
“Teachers have an incredibly important role in our communities,” said John Kostoff, director of education. “Most of us can point to a teacher who has influenced us in a very positive way. The contributions that our teachers and Catholic educational teams make in preparing our students to become successful in their future careers, as well as good citizens, should be recognized and celebrated.”
During morning announcements, students at each school will be encouraged to thank their teachers and express their appreciation for the important role they play in the lives of students.
The Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board is one of largest and most diverse school districts in Ontario, with approximately 85,000 students in 146 Catholic schools throughout Mississauga, Brampton, Caledon and Orangeville.
