Dufferin-Peel hosts Grade 7 student diversity conference
One in Christ – One With Each Other
On May 13, the Mississauga Central Family of Schools will host a student diversity conference called One in Christ - One With Each Other. This one-day conference will provide leadership opportunities for a selected group of Grade 7 students who will take part in an interactive forum to address diversity and equity issues.
Keynote speaker, Dwayne Morgan, a spoken word artist, will use his poetry to illustrate the power each individual has to be a leader who promotes and respects diversity and equity. Following the keynote address, students will participate in a series of workshops.
These students will then be responsible for returning to their schools and sharing what they learned at the conference with their peers and help to promote respect for diversity and equity in their school community.
