Students discuss diversity and equity issues at Leading Together: Student Diversity Conference 2007
BRAMPTON - On June 21, the Brampton West Family of Schools will host Leading Together: Student Diversity Conference 2007. This one-day event will provide a selected group of Grade 7 students (five from each school) with the opportunity to take part in an interactive conference addressing diversity and equity issues.
The student delegates will participate in one of 10 breakout sessions, including: Bullying, Disability, Racism, Sexism, Media, Gang Culture, Diversity, Leadership, Body Image and Stereotyping. Dwayne Morgan, a spoken word artist, will end the event with a keynote address about leadership and the role youth have in leading together.
The students will then have the task of returning to their school as leaders who will then share the information they learned with their peers. These students will in turn become the leaders of their school in promoting diversity and equity.
