Graduating students prepare for the working world
Fifth annual Mission Employable conference and employment expo
MISSISSAUGA – On May 8, the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board and the Peel District School Board will host the fifth annual Mission Employable 2008, a one-day conference and employment expo aimed specifically at Grade 12 students entering the world of work after graduation.
The purpose of the conference is to help students improve and enhance their employability skills, while providing them with the opportunity to connect with prospective employers and community agencies.
“Mission Employable is another critical link in the Student Success initiative where the aim is to reach every student. This conference gives students important information as they transition to the world of work after they graduate,” said David Coules, principal of Student Success and Secondary Program at DPCDSB. “Mission Employable provides students with opportunities to engage in learning and conversation with employers from a variety of sectors designed to assist them with their workplace destination.”
This year’s conference will consist of a keynote speaker, an interactive theatrical experience, employment expo and numerous seminar presentations. Students will have many opportunities to meet employers, drop off resumes, learn tips of the trade and discuss employment opportunities.
Mission Employable 2008 will take place at the Pearson Convention Centre in Brampton at 2638 Steeles Avenue East on Thursday, May 8 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information and a schedule of events, visit w3.dpcdsb.org/MissionEmp.
