Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board announces
top Ontario Scholars for 2007-08
More than 1,929 Grade 12 Dufferin-Peel students score 80 per cent or higher
The Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board is pleased to announce its top Ontario Scholars for 2007-08. Leading the way is Keith Ng from St. Francis Xavier Secondary School in Mississauga. Keith scored an impressive 98.83 per cent average on his top six Grade 12 courses. The leading scholar from a Brampton school is Christopher Ramsammy from St. Edmund Campion Secondary School with an average of 97.17 per cent. Stefano Di Tommaso from Robert F. Hall Catholic Secondary School was the top Caledon/Dufferin County scholar with an 97.67 per cent average.
Keith, Christopher and Stefano are among Dufferin-Peel's 1,929 Ontario Scholars who earned an average of 80 per cent or higher in their top six Grade 12 courses.
Keith Ng has accepted an entrance scholarship to the University of Toronto where he is enrolled in the Physical and Mathematical Sciences program.
Christopher Ramsammy has accepted an entrance scholarship to the University of Toronto where he will study Life Sciences.
Stefano Di Tommaso received a bursary from the University of Pennsylvania where he will study the Biological Basis of Behavior.
“These students are to be recognized for their exceptional academic achievements,” said John Kostoff, director of education. “Marks like these represent many hours of perseverance and dedication. These qualities should serve them well as they continue their academic endeavours through the post-secondary level and beyond.”
“On behalf of the board, I want to say how proud we are of these exceptional students,” said chair, Bruno Iannicca. “Their achievements are examples of the many great things that take place in our schools. We wish them, and all our students, the very best in their future endeavours.”
The Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board is one of the largest and most diverse school boards in Ontario. It serves approximately 88,000 students in 144 schools located throughout Mississauga, Brampton, Caledon and Orangeville. With over 10,000 employees, the board is also one of the largest employers in the region.
