Dufferin-Peel Catholic Board ratifies agreements with employee groups

At its meeting on Tuesday, October 28, the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board ratified collective agreements with three employee groups; Educational Resource Workers (ERWs), Association of Professional Student Services Personnel (APSSP) and the Mid-management Association.

Each of the agreements is for a four year contract in accordance with the Provincial Discussion Table framework, as agreed to by the Catholic school boards across the province and unions and associations with provincial and local representation and funded through the Ministry of Education. The board also recently ratified an agreement with the Dufferin-Peel Secondary Unit of the Ontario English Catholic Teachers Association (OECTA).

APSSP represents Social Workers, Child & Youth Workers, Speech & Language Pathologists and Psychology staff. ERWs work in the classroom as resources and supports to students with special needs. The Mid-Management Association represents supervisory, administrative and senior secretarial employees and non-union administrative employees.

The board continues to negotiate with its other employee groups, including CUPE Local 1483 representing custodial and maintenance employees, CUPE 2026, representing clerical, secretarial and technical employees, OPSEU, representing Adult ESL Continuing Education instructors, OECTA-OT, representing occasional teachers and the Elementary Unit of the Ontario English Catholic Teachers Association (OECTA).

The Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board is one of the largest school boards in Ontario, with approximately 87,000 students in 145 schools located throughout Mississauga, Brampton, Caledon and Orangeville. With approximately 10,000 employees, the board is also one of the largest employers in the region.
