Dufferin-Peel hosts local 19th Annual Skills Canada Competition
On Tuesday, April 1, over 500 elementary and secondary students will participate in the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board’s 19th Annual Skills Canada Competition at St. Aloysius Gonzaga Secondary School.
Grade 7 and 8 students will compete in the following events: Junior and Intermediate Lego Dacta, Junior and Intermediate Lego Robotics, Junior and Intermediate Design and Technology, and Junior and Intermediate Animation using TBS software. Secondary students will compete in 34 events within the following areas: Construction, Manufacturing, Employability Skills, Service, Communication, and Transportation.
Gold medal winners will move on to the provincial level competition held in Waterloo May 4-6. Provincial gold medal winners then move on to the national competition to be held in Calgary at the end of May.
Last year, 2007, two students from Dufferin-Peel won Gold medals at the national level Skills Canada competition.
