St. Marguerite Bourgeoys students celebrate and support Terry Fox

The students of St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Catholic Elementary School in Brampton will participate in the 30th Annual Terry Fox Run on Friday, September 24, concluding a week long dedication to Terry Fox and the fight to end cancer.

Throughout the week of Sept. 20-24, students will pay homage to Terry Fox through songs and poems written by each class. Students will also view videos about Fox and the run he embarked on to end cancer, demonstrating the courage and determination he had about ‘never giving up on a dream’.

For 25 years, the staff and students at the school have supported the run, raising a total of $172,000 during this period.

“Our students are looking forward to this event,” said Carol Klugman, St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Principal. “Every year we do our best to raise money for the run. The commitment from the students, staff and our community is overwhelming and we want to do our part by contributing to such a great cause.”

On September 24, students and teachers are set to race around the school yard proudly waving the Terry Fox flag. Members of the Parent Council will be on hand to help students as they arrive at their check points.

St. Marguerite Bourgeoys School is part of the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board. Located at 550 North Park Drive in Brampton, the school currently has an enrolment of 250 students ranging from JK to Grade 8.
