Teachers hone their classroom skills at Dufferin-Peel's Summer Institute 2007

MISSISSAUGA – With less than a month to go until the beginning of the 2007-08 school year, teachers, administrators and other academic staff from across southern Ontario will meet at St. Joseph Secondary School in Mississauga for the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board's 12th annual Summer Institute, a 5-day series of seminars and workshops scheduled for August 20-24.

This year’s Summer Institute features 46 sessions on subjects ranging from literacy and special education to the arts.

“Teachers attending Summer Institute take time out of their summer holidays and pay their own way to enhance classroom skills,” said Ralph Borrelli, Dufferin-Peel’s Associate Director of Instructional Services. “These individuals are committed to personal development and growth and what they learn here adds to their classroom leadership skills.”

Over the past 11 years, Summer Institute has helped over 14,000 teachers and academic staff enhance their classroom skills. Most who attend are from Dufferin-Peel Catholic schools, but many others represent school boards from across Ontario.

Dufferin-Peel’s Summer Institute 2007 will take place August 20-24. All sessions run from   8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and will be held at St. Joseph Secondary School, 5555 Creditview Road, Mississauga. For a list of sessions, locations and times, call 905-890-0708, ext. 24303 or visit http://www.dpcdsb.org/SI
