Orientation for Summer School eLearning
2012

There are two components to this section (1) the orientation session and (2) the orientation modules.

1) Orientation Session

There is a mandatory one hour orientation session at the onset of the semester.  Parents/Guardians are welcome to attend this evening session.  This may be the only opportunity for the online teacher and students to meet face-to-face.  Students must arrange for their own transportation to this orientation session.  At that time, students will meet their teacher and be given their username and temporary password to their course.  The purpose of this orientation session is to:

  • meet your online teacher (this may be the only opportunity to meet your online teacher)
  • distribute usernames and passwords to students
  • give students an opportunity to log into the first orientation module (see below)
  • post initial responses to your teacher using the LMS

  • discuss the Code of Conduct for eLearning
  • answer questions

Date: Thursday June 28th, 2012
Time: 7:00pm

Duration: 90 minutes
Location: St. Aloysius Gonzaga SS (website) (map)

2) Orientation Modules

Every student must complete a set of five online orientation modules before starting their online credit course.  These modules will be made available to  students when they first log into their online course.  They will be guided through this process at the orientation session (see above).  The purpose of the modules is to train students on how to use the learning management system. The modules must be completed by the end of the first day of classes.  Once the five modules are completed, the student will be provided access to their online credit course.

Students in Session 1 will begin their online orientation modules on July 3rd, 2012.

Students in Session 2 wil begin their online orientation modules on July 17th, 2012.
