Student Voice

Student Voice: “You are the Voice”

Student Voice: You are the Voice’ is a Dufferin-Peel Catholic School Board and Ministry initiative that has created an opportunity to bring student leaders together to establish a network in order to share ideas, engage in conversation and support each other’s leadership or SpeakUp[1]  Projects. Infusing our Catholic World View, the goal of the Dufferin-Peel ‘Student Voice’ conferences are to continue to encourage and empower students to find their voice, and translate that voice into actions that support the needs of the student body, the community, and the world at large.

As a part of the conferences, students, teacher advisors and/or chaplaincy leaders are invited to enter into a multitude of activities including:

·          Faith formation & prayer rooted in scripture

·          Reflection activities exploring student leadership

·          Opportunities to explore, debrief and plan Student Led Projects such as Ministry funded SpeakUp

·          Interactive performances and motivational guest speakers.

Fall Conference: Wednesday November 30th, 2011.
Spring Conference: COMING SOON!

God empowers everyone to answer a call to serve God through their gifts, talents and their “voice”. “Now I have put my words in your mouth” Jeremiah 1:9.

[1] Across Ontario, SpeakUp projects are helping students get more engaged in learning and their school community. In the program’s first year, thousands of students in Grades 7-12 benefited from more than 1,900 successful projects in 950 schools. In 2009-10, 25 Dufferin-Peel secondary schools and 24 elementary schools received grant funding from SpeakUp. For 2010-11, over 96 project applications were submitted by Dufferin-Peel schools with 23 Secondary Schools and 15 Elementary Schools receiving approvals for 83 projects.
