Across Ontario, SpeakUp projects are helping students get more engaged in learning and their school community. In the program’s first year, thousands of students in Grades 7-12 benefited from more than 1,900 successful projects in 950 schools.

In 2009-10, 25 Dufferin-Peel secondary schools and 24 elementary schools received grant funding from SpeakUp.

For 2010-11, over 96 project applications were submitted by Dufferin-Peel schools with 23 Secondary Schools and 15 Elementary Schools receiving approvals for 83 projects.

The Minister's Student Advisory Council is a group of 60 students from all parts of the education system (English/French, Public/Catholic) and regions of the province.

Members share their ideas and advice with the Minister of Education on how to ensure Ontario's schools remain the best in the world.

The council is about empowering you to 'be the change.' It is an opportunity to think big, SpeakUp and take action to help other students across the province.
