STUDENT VOICE COUNCIL REPRESENTATIVES
The Student Trustee election process brings together a dynamic group of qualified candidates who would benefit from the opportunity to work with fellow student leaders.
For the two candidates who are elected as student trustees, communication with student councils across the board is important. Student trustees will be involved in opportunities to work with other students so that they may accurately represent the student’s voice within Dufferin-Peel.
Therefore, in the spirit of Catholic Student Leadership, the Student Voice Council has been formed, comprised of the two elected student trustees and the school elected Student Voice Council Representatives. Schools without an elected Student Voice Council Representative may assign that responsibility to another member of the Student Council/Parliament.
The expectation is that school level elected Student Voice Council Representatives will be part of the local school organization and will be part of the Board-wide Student Voice Council. The Student Voice Council Representatives will liaise with the student trustees. Student trustees will be provided opportunities to meet at the Student Voice Conferences. Additional forums for communication may be established, in consultation with a Board Trustee/Designate and a Superintendent of Education/Designate assigned to mentor and liaise with the Student Trustees.
