The Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board is committed to the creation of safe, caring, inclusive and healthy Catholic communities that ensure the safety, security, affirmation and inclusion of all in nurturing, positive learning environments.
In this community,
- all shall be held to the highest standards of Catholic behaviour; authentic Catholic culture shall be cultivated;
- each one shall be called to “put on the mind of Christ” (1Cor.2:12-16) in the exercise of conscience and the discernment/reflection of right choices;
- program, curriculum, job-training and professional development shall exist to foster respectful climates and compassionate service;
- healthy relationships in the context of a vibrant Catholic community shall be highly valued;
- preventative, educative and disciplinary measures shall be implemented at all levels in the spirit of Christian discipleship;
- virtue formation shall be actively fostered throughout;
- a belief in the transformative potential of individuals and situations shall be widely proclaimed, and
- faith-filled trust in the inherent goodness of all persons created in God’s image, and, in the power of God’s grace to work in and through us, shall be demonstrated.
Catholic Code of Conduct
In light of its Mission Statement, the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board is committed to the implementation in every school of a Catholic Code of Conduct that clearly reflects the need to provide a safe, caring, inclusive and healthy Catholic school community. All persons shall work together to develop spiritually, intellectually, physically, socially and emotionally by aspiring to the highest possible standards of Catholic behaviour in living out the gospel values, and by fostering a Catholic culture of respect, responsibility and concern for the common good.
Bullying Prevention Policy
In recognizing that “bullying adversely affects the student’s ability to learn, adversely affects healthy relationships and school climate, and adversely affects the school’s ability to educate its students,” the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board prohibits bullying in all its forms, as a serious offence against the dignity of persons created in God’s image, and as an affront to the integrity of Catholic learning communities. Thus, the Board shall be committed to a comprehensive whole school approach to bullying prevention and response.
Progressive Discipline Policy
The Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board supports the comprehensive and consistent use of a progressive discipline approach, and shall reflect the model of Christian discipleship, in its implementation of the Catholic Code of Conduct.
