School & Play Ground Rules
To create a safe, caring and inclusive learning environment
Students are expected to
PLAY IN SCHOOL BOUNDARIES AND DESIGNATED PLAY AREAS
Students are not allowed to leave school property.
Students are not allowed to stay in the school unless supervised by a staff member.
All students will stay in Play Yard A at the beginning of school 8:00-8:15 am.
Do not play near the Portables and keep off Portable steps.
Do not play on the fences that border the play yard.
Do not go behind the soccer post in Yard C.
Stay away from the sheds in Yard C.
2. USE SCHOOL WASHROOMS APPROPRIATELY
Ask permission to use the washroom (washroom pass if outside)
Recess: Students use Primary Door ÐPri Students & Junior Door Ð Jun/Int Students
Students are expected to use the facilities with care and respect.
Report any vandalism or problems to your teacher or the office.
3. PLAY COOPERATIVELY & BE RESPECTFUL TO OTHER
Speak politely and include others in your games.
Do not interfere with other games that have started.
Wait your turn and ask politely to participate in a game or activity.
4. PLAY SAFELY - HANDS OFF GAMES ONLY
Hands Off means NO pushing, shoving, lifting, tripping or physical contact games
Hands Off means NO throwing objects which can cause injury: rocks, snowballs, sticks
Hands Off means NO playing on snowbanks and hills where someone can get hurt
5. DO NOT THROW OR SWING OBJECTS THAT CAN INJURE SOMEONE
Do not pick up or throw objects (ie. rocks, sticks, etc.) that can hurt someone
Throwing snowballs, ice or snow is not allowed
6. PLAY ACCEPTABLE GAMES & USE ACCCEPTABLE/SAFE EQUIPMENT
Do not bring hard balls, hockey sticks, roller blades to the play area
Personal Electronic Devices and Games are not to be used on school property
7. TAKE CARE OF SCHOOL PROPERTY
Respect and take care of school materials assigned to them and respect school property; buildings, grounds and landscaping
¥ Throw litter in garbage to help keep our school clean and environmentally friendly.

Respect For Self
At our school we believe that every student is part of a Catholic School Community that respects the dignity and self worth of themselves and others. Each person is expected to conduct themselves in a manner that is safe and respectful:
Possession and use of cigarettes drugs and alcohol will not be tolerated.
Inappropriate language (written or spoken) is not acceptable.
Dress and behave in a manner appropriate to a Catholic Community.
Respect For Others
At our school we believe that every student has the right to be free from harassment with regard to race, ancestry, place of origin, colour, ethnic origin, citizenship, creed, sex, sexual orientation, age, marital status family status or handicap

Fighting and Aggressive Behaviours will not be tolerated.
Bullying Behaviour such as Physical, Verbal, Social, Internet is unacceptable
Harrassment or Sexual Harrassment is unacceptable
Bringing dangerous Articles or Weapons to school and threatening others will not be tolerated.
Respect For Property
All persons are to treat school grounds, buildings, and contents, and the personal property of others with respect. Specifically this includes the following unacceptable behaviours:
Littering, defacing or damaging school property such as textbooks or equipment is unacceptable
Academic Responsibility
Students are expected to take responsibility for their own work and to ensure they come to school prepared ready to learn.
Regular Attendance & Puntuality is important to your success.
Cheating, plaigerism, and/or presenting someoneÕs work is not acceptable and does not allow you to grow as a learner and learn from your mistakes.
Using Technology Appropriately
Students are expected to use technology in a responsible and respectful manner.
Electronic devices are not to be used on school property including cell phones, ipods, cameras, video players, electronic games, etc.
Using computer technology to communicate inappropriate, demeaning, harassing or threatening messages shall be subject to disciplinary action. Any unauthorized use of photographic, video, or audio communication is strictly prohibited on all board property/activities.
St. Christopher School
Dress Code
In striving to achieve the personal and social values which are attached to appropriate dress, St. Christopher School is committed to standards of neatness, cleanliness, modesty and good taste. Students are expected to dress in a manner and attire suitable for the occasion and appropriate to the school environment. Clothing should not detract the attention of others away from the learning process.
Clothing that is acceptable for a six year old may not be appropriate for a thirteen year old student. Teachers will speak to students regarding clothing which represents a counter Christian morality and may contact parents regarding the need for the student to be taken home to change clothing that is inappropriate.
School Guidelines
- Clothing should be neat, clean and without tears and/or holes;
- Children should be appropriately attired for the seasonal weather conditions;
- Children are to wear appropriate clothing for participation in gym including shorts, t-shirts, track pants and non-marking running shoes;
- Patches, symbols or sayings on clothing shall not be offensive to anyone who might read it;
- Shorts shall be walking length and hemmed;
- Halter tops, mini skirts, mesh shirts, muscle shirts, spandex bicycle wear, cut-off shirts, midriff tops, spaghetti straps and bandannas are inappropriate attire for school;
- Sunglasses and hats are inappropriate in the school building and classroom;
- Students are required to have a dry pair of shoes at the school to be worn in the classroom

Lunch Time Rules
To create a safe and enjoyable lunch time environment students are expected to:
Eat in the appropriate and designated areas of their classroom.
Be aware of any student who has food allergies in their classroom and tell their teacher if they have food items which may be allergic to other students.
Complete their lunch and beverages in the 20 minutes lunch period provided, remaining seated and reasonably quiet.
Behave in a a courteous, safe and respectful manner, showing consideration for others.
Clean up spilled foods and eating accidents which are the responsibility of the student or students involved. (For safety reasons, students are not allowed to pick up any broken glass bottles or objects with sharp edges. Students must inform the lunch supervisor of the accident.)
Ask permission to go to the washroom and ensure they use the facilities with respect and care.
Clean up their lunch area by throwing litter in the garbage can and placing recyclable materials in the appropriate recycling bin.
Line up in single file quietly for dismissal and wait to be dismissed by the lunch time supervisor. Do not stay in the classroom or school unsupervised at any time.
Leave the school building by the assigned exit and remain on the school grounds.

Bus Transportation Rules
For their own safety and the safety of others, students are expected to:
- Take their assigned bus home unless other arrangements have been made by their parents where both the classroom teacher and office have been notified.
- Stand quietly in their bus line at the front of the school and board their assigned bus in an orderly and safe fashion as directed by the supervising teacher.
- Follow all bus safety rules sent home in September.
- Listen and follow instructions of the bus driver.
- Report any unsafe conditions or problems to the office.
- Report to the office immediately if they have missed their bus.
