Remembrance Day at St.Christopher School
At St.Christopher, we look forward to Remembrance Day every year. It is such a special time for people to pray for those who fought for our country and our freedom. We celebrate by wearing poppies to represent the soldiers and red and white to show our Canadian spirit. It is so important that we acknowledge those extraordinary people that risk their lives to make our lives in Canada safer.
We are so fortunate at St.Christopher to have so many wonderful teachers and students that helped to put together our fabulous Remembrance Day assembly. There is always so much effort that is put into days like this and the light from these people always shines through.
As alway, all of our staff and students gathered in the gymnasium for a presentation. We thank all the parents and guests that came to celebrate with us.
We would like to recognize a very special person that came to speak to us on Remembrance Day. Mrs.Roddy, one of our teachers here at St.Chris is lucky enough to have a veteran in her family who is still alive today that fought for our freedom. Fred Maylor, her uncle, kindly volunteered to speak about his experiences and share a small glimpse of his life story. We were all touched and amazed by his bravery and life accomplishments.
These special heroes, like Mr. Maylor, will never be forgotten because St.Chris always does an incredible job of remembering and honouring our veterans on November 11th. We thank everyone for truly making this day, a memorable one.
