Student Faith Leadership & Student Engagement
The Heart of Building Community
For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the LORD, plans for your welfare ... and to give you a future with hope.
Jeremiah 29:11-12
Divine Mercy is a Catholic community that respects and promotes the uniqueness of all its members. By following the teachings of Jesus, we pledge to provide everyone with a safe, caring, peaceful and healthy environment, which nurtures respect and acceptance of all. Because of these beliefs, bullying will not be tolerated.
Our Student Faith Leadership and Student Engagement plan for 2009/2010 will include elements of: Faith Formation, Evangelization, Social Justice, Stewardship and Faith Leadership. Student engagement and student faith leadership will be at the heart of building a vibrant, caring inclusive, learning school community.
Activities that students may embrace (with an eye on enhancing a safe, caring, peaceful and healthy learning environment for all) are as follows:
- Regular meetings with the public health nurse and Peel Youth Officers
- Monthly lessons in their classrooms (each month every student in the school will do an activity that allows them to learn a specific message about bullying prevention)
- Students will be chosen from each class that exemplify the virtue of the month at our monthly virtue assemblies
- Artist in the School - outside performances brought into the school
- Presentations by Speakers
- Students presenting to students, emphasizing aspects of bullying prevention

School communities shall undertake a comprehensive approach to bullying prevention according to board policy with broad school/community/home/parish involvement, with virtue formation as a central element to be embedded in curriculum and school culture, and with evidence-based objectives formulated from data collected via a school climate survey.
