Department of Social Science
Social Science at d'Youville
The Social Science Department at St. Marguerite d’Youville is dedicated to building student centered classrooms that foster the development of knowledge, creative thinking, compassion and the virtues of good citizenship.
The social science curriculum contains a deeply spiritual and social dimension which when informed by the teachings of the Catholic Church enriches it with a deeper and more holistic meaning. Teachers infuse the curriculum with gospel values daily and use their lessons to remind students, “blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the Children of God; and blessed are they that suffer persecution for justice’ sake; for theirs is the kingdom of heaven”
(Matthew 5: 9-10).
