OVERVIEW

Manufacturing is the transformation of materials into products to meet human needs and wants. In today’s global economy, manufacturing is the foundation of a nation’s wealth and power. These courses provide students with opportunities to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to understand, use, and manage manufacturing systems.  Their study of manufacturing technology will prepare students for change and for making critical decisions regarding the future.

TMJ3C - Grade 11 Manufacturing Technology College

TMJ3M - Grade 11 Manufacturing Engineering Technology U/C

TMJ4M - Grade 12 Manufacturing Engineering Technology U/C

STUDENT PROJECTS

Students use manufacturing fundamentals, theory and application to produce the following:

  • Sheet metal
    • storage box, tool box, bird feeder
  • Machining - Milling - Turning
    • tape dispenser, dice ornament, tic-tac-toe game board, canon ornament
  • Welding -
    • various in-house projects including hula hoop hangers, basketball shooters rack, volleyball net tools
  • Go Kart
    • new to the program, we have introduced the design and fabrication of an engine powered go kart
  • Future - hydraulic log splitter, bike racks, laptop stands, CNC machines

HANDS ON EXPERIENCE

Team work and hands on experience is critical in manufacturing. Our program introduces students to work collaboratively with each other to fabricate projects using a variety of processes and machines. All students go through safety certification before using the machines.
